I often marvel at the pure creativity of life. Many people find it difficult to make a decision because they fear making the wrong one. This is logical, even understandable, but it is very much based in human indecisiveness. We have a tendency to believe that the wrong decision may lead our lives in a wrong direction. We are fixated on the rights and wrongs of life, and how to avoid errors and pitfalls in our lives. So much so that many people live lives that are fixed and stuck, yet apparently safe.
This is where life's creativity comes in. I have learnt over my lifetime that we need have no fear of making an error, or a wrong decision. If we live our lives boldly and with trust, and we make a decision that is completely wrong, somehow life will rearrange everything so that it works out perfectly. Note that I said, “If we live our lives boldly and with trust.” To live boldly means that we do not fear life, or wrong decisions. To trust is to invoke an energy of transformation. Let us look at this again. To be bold is to be self-confident. If you are confident in yourself, this is a transforming energy. Thus we have two transforming energies, boldness and trust . . . and a hypothetical wrong decision. You and I are each a field-of-energy. In this energy-field there is no right or wrong, good or bad; there is simply energy. One day we make the hypothetical wrong decision. Despite this, and knowing we made an error, if we are living confidently and with trust, such is the energy of these two expressions that their transforming qualities change the expected outcome into something quite different. Trust is an inner power that is very misunderstood. You only find trust by trusting. Trust is not a just a word; trust is a transforming energy. Combine trust with boldness and any situation can be transformed to your benefit beyond anything that a 'right' decision may have created. When I was a young man, I farmed with my father. When he died, I decided to continue farming. No Last Will and Testament denied that possibility. The farm was sold and I decided to be a pig farmer, with my own ultra-modern piggery design. I was told that my inheritance would not be enough, so that decision was denied. Finally I took the only way that seemed open . . . my wife and I emigrated. With this decision, life could not get us to Tasmania fast enough. And I grew to become the man I am today . . . and I love this man. I made two wrong decisions, but in my naïvety I trusted myself and life, and I was certainly bold. Ah, youth, so brash and impetuous! Be more relaxed in your life. Be more trusting. Be self-confident and bold. And if these qualities are not in you, then learn how to bring them into your life. Fear will always take you to the worst possible outcome. You see, the reverse of what I have been saying is also true; if you make a 'right' decision fearfully, the outcome will be nowhere near as good for you as if you make a 'wrong' decision boldly. Let go of the confusion that accompanies 'right' and 'wrong' or 'good' and 'bad,' and live your life boldly and with trust. Life will reward you with its perfect – but not always comfortable – creativity. You need to trust yourself and life, with no attachment to an outcome. Trust does not happen where there are attachments. Trust is a freedom song . . . sung boldly! I repeat, you cannot make the wrong decision. Whatever you decide is movement. Procrastination is a fear of failure, of making a wrong decision. You cannot fail in a decision because it allows and invokes movement in your life. You may fear a backward movement, but in the energy of your life, backward and forward mean nothing; all movement is good, movement is everything. Backward a step may be the precursor to a quantum leap forward, and the reverse can be true! Life is all about movement. Indecision and procrastination are about being stuck and static. Do not sweat a decision in your life; make it to the best of your sensibility and knowledge, but allow plenty of room for intuition. If your intuition is in conflict with your knowledge, trust your intuition. In other words, act from the heart, rather than the head. The more you go boldly heart-first into life, and the less fearfully head-first, the more perfect your life will become. |
