A man asked the other day why it is that there are not more enlightened people around. As I answered him, consciousness loomed uppermost in my focus. "Do you feel the consciousness of enlightenment in your daily living?" I asked him. He replied, "No." "Why not?" I asked. I noticed that in the last newsletter Carolyn included a small quote from Meher Baba. Interestingly, the Meher Baba centre for Australia is situated just a few hundred meters from where we live. When I go for a walk, I go down our steep hill for a way, then take a bush-track leading among the gum trees. After a pleasing walk, the track emerges next to a housing estate. I then follow a small trail uphill through the forest that takes me through the Meher Baba Abode, a high-energy place of natural beauty. Read more...

I really do not have much media contact these days, but on the occasions that I do it seems that one of the most repeated themes is fear. People who are interviewed by the local newspaper about current issues invariably mention their fear of terrorism, bombings, and other such atrocities. The Bali bombing has given Australian people the idea that we are now easy targets, hence more fear and anxiety. I think there was some complacency in Oz after the 11/9 New York terrorism, a certain smugness that such things could not happen here. Although Bali is a long way from here, it has, nevertheless, shattered that smug illusion. People have decided that we can be targeted. So, we now have a resurgence of fear, and talk of needing world peace. Even New Year's Eve celebrations had considerably less people. Read more...

My wish for you is that you may find that for which you have been searching for, for so many millennia – Self. It is most likely, as you read this, that you are aware of your search. This is the very basis of awareness. Some of you will put considerable energy into this search. In Truth, it’s a search less search, yet it’s a search that must be undertaken. I suggest that if you are going to make a resolution for the new millennium, this is it – the search for Self. And I mean a resolution of total commitment to the search. Anything less is not enough.
