Interview for New Visions Magazine

1. There are so many labels that we pin on ourselves or the world pins on us, to define how we spend our days. How would you describe yourself and the work you do to someone who is unfamiliar with either?

The Consciousness Column...On Be Careful, Consciousness Is Listening!
Walking into a pet store the other day, I told the woman at the counter what it was that I wanted. "Too easy," she said, getting exactly what I wanted and taking the money. I reflected on this purely Australian colloquialism that you hear nowhere else in the world. Too easy. I smiled. As far as colloquialisms go it is a very positive one. Most are not.

Living As The Being You Are
The title of this article begs the question; who are you? A general basic for most people's concepts about themselves could be something like this; I was born. I'm human. I'm not bad looking. I think I'm reasonably intelligent. My life could be better, but it could be worse. I hope to be successful. I will grow older, and one day I will die. We only live once. I hope that my life will have been happy.

The Consciousness Column...On Living Truth
A man asked the other day why it is that there are not more enlightened people around. As I answered him, consciousness loomed uppermost in my focus. "Do you feel the consciousness of enlightenment in your daily living?" I asked him. He replied, "No." "Why not?" I asked. "You're a man on your spiritual path, and you spend quite a lot of money each year on week long seminars with the person who is your spiritual guide. I have no doubt that you are told, over and over, to live the Truth of who you are. Correct?" He affirmed that I was correct.

Relationship Between Garden And Gardner
There are many gardeners in the world, but few are outstanding. What is it that makes one particular gardener stand out from so many others? First and foremost, it is the relationship that gardener has with their garden. And it is a relationship! Some gardeners enjoy looking after the garden, and they have a very nice garden, while for many others – who do not actually qualify as gardeners – it is the bane of the their lives; mowing the lawn, hedge-trimming, pulling weeds – uh, pruning roses – ouch. Enough!

The Consciousness Column...On Trust And Hope; Friend And Foe
I was discussing a certain investment with a friend some time back, and she was saying that it seemed that their investment was going through very perilous times. Their investments could collapse, causing them to lose all the money invested and accrued. Her concern caused my friend to really look at what she was feeling about this: was it hope she was experiencing in this situation, or trust? She wanted to trust.

Some Pitfalls And Pointers To Talking With Nature
Look again at the title of this article. Be aware that this is about talking with Nature, not simply talking to it. Most people talk to their cats and dogs, even chickens and parrots, maybe even goldfish. But very few people talk with them. For this to happen, you need to be open to them answering you . . . and most people are not! And even if you are open to an answer, it is unlikely that you will be listening.

There Is So Much More To Life
Most people have an image of themselves, of life, and the world. Generally, people see themselves as physical and mortal, with life as a brief competition in which you either succeed or fail, and the world as besieged with environmental, climatic, population and pollution problems. All in all, the frame in which we place life is small and limited. “You only live once,” is an all too often repeated phrase. Fair enough, but there is far more to life than this.

The Consciousness Column...On The Validity Of Fate
April, 2006
I have described this article as the validity of fate, but equally, fate could be totally invalid. More than anything, the validity of fate depends on which world you live in - the world of illusion, or the world of Truth.

From Bewilderment To Clarity
So often this column is triggered by a person's question, or, as in this case, a litany of questions. Let me share the main thrust of his – yes, a sweet guy named Steve – questions so we have an outline of his challenges.
Basically, he asks: Is there something that decides we have to come back here because we have done such and so? Is repaying karmic debt more along the lines of what we can forgive in ourselves, and others? If we can truly let go and forgive ourselves and others, does that not relieve all or most karma? If someone does not totally believe that they have done a negative thing, have they really done a negative thing? I am thinking now of attachments, of how we all keep going back to the old patterns of behaviour because we are attached to them, getting some kind of security or satisfaction from them. What are the most common things we come back for?
