THE POWER OF LOVE
5-Day Intensive
Love, probably the most common word in the English language, and certainly the most respectable and acceptable four-letter word! But what does it mean . . . Love? Is Love the same as being Loved or Loving someone? Or is Love a full and definite expressing energy within itself? We often think about such questions, but they are generally classed as being unanswerable. We accept that Love is something we experience in our daily lives . . . even if we are not quite sure just what it is.
A man is driving with his family on an outing when the car is suddenly out of control, rolls over an embankment and bursts into flames. He staggers out, drags his unconscious wife to safety, then hears his child cry in terror. The flames are fierce, the back door is jammed shut and the child is no longer reachable. The man panics, beating his fists on the car in futile despair, when suddenly . . . he is calm. A new energy sweeps over him, and with steadfast deliberation he rips the door off its hinges and lifts the child from the reaching flames into the arms of his recovering wife.
What happened in that moment of transformation? The Power of Love. In that moment, under the duress of losing those he Loves, he transcended human limits by opening to the Power of Love. Not 'his' Love, but the Love that is always available. Love is a Power. Love is transformation.
A single mother goes to work daily, supporting herself and her three children. She works long hours for little money, and every day is a struggle. Her first concern is her children, and it is to them she gives the best food, the best clothing and, as much as possible, the best education. She does not want them to live a life of drudgery like hers. Day after day, week after week, month after month, year in and year out, she continues with her struggle, always just finding the means and strength to keep going.
Love, mother Love; Love that gives the Power to endure, to keep on keeping on. Love is forever constant. Love is a vitality that takes a single mother past her physical limits, past her despair and adversity into triumph.
Love can come in a vast transcendent surge; Love can be a quiet and constant energy. Love meets us in the way that we meet ourselves. Even though we each have a very different relationship with Love, the Power of Love can be awakened in the human heart. At the time of his very greatest loss, Michael Roads found the healing Power of Love. With it came the gift and the ability to open a door for other people who are ready, without undue drama or pain, to experience in their own way the Power of Love.
